Farm, Facilities & Historic Campus

Preserving the Place Where Agricultural Education Comes to Life

The SC Governor's School for Agriculture (SCGA) at John de la Howe is a working farm, with agricultural operations unfolding seven days a week, 365 days a year. The campus itself is a critical educational asset, one that makes hands-on agricultural learning possible every day.

Through Farm, Facilities & Historic Campus, donor support sustains the land, infrastructure, and learning environments that allow students to experience agriculture not as theory, but as real responsibility.

A Working Farm at the Heart of Agricultural Education

Across the 1,310 acres of the SCGA at John de la Howe campus, students and farm staff work side by side to maintain pasture land and forests and to care for livestock central to agricultural education in South Carolina.

Farm operations include:

These operations are not demonstrations—they are active, daily responsibilities that teach students discipline, stewardship, and the realities of agriculture.

Facilities That Support Hands-On Agricultural Learning

Agricultural education depends on safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities. From barns and animal housing to instructional and operational spaces, these facilities support learning across all academic pathways.

State funding supports core operations, but philanthropic investment allows facilities to be maintained with excellence, not just adequacy, supporting safety, effectiveness, and long-term use.
